Losing weight can be harder than expected. Some people feel like they’ve tried nearly everything, but still can’t seem to shed those extra pounds. This is where VASERlipo can help. VASERlipo’s minimally invasive and precise technology only targets fat, thus preventing the harm to other tissues. VASERlipo uses the science of ultrasound waves to break up areas of fat all while keeping the surrounding tissues intact. The final result is a healthier weight, and leaner, tighter physique.
Risks and Safety
As a result of VASERlipo unharming the surrounding tissues, risks are decreased as compared to other liposuction procedures. However, because VASERlipo is still a form of liposuction, the same risks are possible. Serious risks coinciding with this procedure are fat clots or blood clots, fluid loss, infection, localized burns or injury to deeper tissues. In most cases, patients experience less pain and report fewer side effects using VASERlipo as opposed to other forms. If you’re considering VASERlipo, keep in mind that this isn’t a weight loss or weight reduction procedure but a body contouring method to help areas that aren’t responding to exercise or diet. The ideal candidate for VASERlipo will have a consistent weight for 6 months leading up to the procedure and as always, is in good health. It’s highly suggested to not undergo such treatment if you suffer from Diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular or coagulation problems. As always, your doctor will review all forms of risks and every aspect of safety prior to your consent for treatment.
When preparing for your VASERlipo make sure all of your questions have been answered. Your physician will give you specific recommendations such as the type of anesthesia you’ll be receiving, side effects, what to and what not to take beforehand etc. With the time frame given by your doctor, you should stop taking any blood thinners i.e. aspirin, anti-inflammatory medications or fish oils as these will increase bleeding. If you are a current, everyday smoker it’s really important to stop smoking prior to your procedure as this can prolong the healing process. Be sure to ask your doctor for suggestions on quitting smoking to prevent any withdrawal illness. It’s recommended to abstain from caffeine or alcohol prior to your surgery and to line up a means of transportation to and from your treatment center.
VASERlipo is also known as a UAL or an ultrasonic liposuction procedure. Since this method uses ultrasound waves to break up the fat that is wanted to be removed, the procedure itself is pretty straightforward.
Step 1: Your doctor will provide a local anesthetic for your comfort. Using Pro-Nox nitrous technology, our patients remain semi-awake throughout the procedure, receiving local anesthesia only in the areas of treatment. The combination allows for the safest and best outcome by avoiding general anesthesia, yet nearly eliminating pain or anxiety. It also still allows for the patient to communicate with the doctor through the procedure and gives the doctor the ability to position the patient in the most desirable position to target hard to reach treatment areas. The result is unsurpassed targeted sculpting and with little to no pain or down time. It really is technology at its best.
Step 2: Your doctor will then apply a saline wetting solution to shrink the blood vessels and numb the site which will help with post procedural bruising.
Step 3: Your doctor will then essentially ‘rub’ a small probe over the area that uses those ultrasound waves to break up the unwanted fat.
Step 4: The fat that has since been broken up can be extracted with liposuction tubes.
Once the procedure is finished, you will be asked to wear compression garments to help the skin and muscles contract smoothly to the change in contour. Depending on how many areas were treated, it’s suggested to take at least 12 hours of rest before returning to work followed by 2-3 weeks of strenuous activity avoidance.
Results are quite noticeable following the procedure. Although, full results are typically seen 3-4 months post procedure.
